The Wonderful Word And Work Of GodJuly 29, 2010
Sunday 25th July 2010 remains imprinted in the hearts of the thousands of worshippers at The Synagogue, Church of All Nations as a date forever to be remembered as a turning point in their lives. Once again, God proved Himself as the God of redemption, restoration and reconciliation as countless needs were met, problems were solved, homes were reunited and hopes were returned. Such can only be described as the work of God, and unto Him be all the glory, honour and adoration. God has no hands but our hands to do His work – what a priceless privilege to act on His behalf!
First was a short but stirring message by Prophet T.B. Joshua, simply titled: ‘Christ And The Word Are One’, in which he emphasised the importance of God’s Word in our daily lives. “One thing we must know – you cannot build up one spiritually on philosophy, on theory or on the history of the Word. We are made spiritual only when we live in the Word and the Word lives in us,” he told the rapt audience. He further spoke on the effect God’s Word will have in your life once you truly receive it in your heart and live by its sacred principles. “If the Word of God is dominating your mouth, it will dominate your mind,” he exhorted. “If the Word of God is dominating your mind, it will influence your conduct and behaviours. So we must embrace the wonderful Word of God as the most effective instrument for change.”
After the sermon had prepared the hearts of the people, it was time for the reconciliation of various families who had come to The SCOAN in disarray and dispute with accusations of wizardry and devilry. First was the Febugha family, which literally besieged the church with almost 30 members of their extended family, all because of varying allegations and counter-confessions of witchcraft that had left the family in troubled tatters and terrible stigma. Mr Peter Febugha spoke first, telling the congregation how he had confessed to being a wizard and killing his father over 17 years ago when he was still a teenager, following a revelation in a church that he played a part in his father’s death. The confession had brought disunity and disrepute to the family, and Peter had lived in the shame and controversy ever since.
Apart from Peter, other members of the family had also confessed to witchcraft or had been accused of similar, including Peter’s younger sister, Suko, his aunt’s sister and a number of young ones. The family’s fear was that it seemed one by one they were being initiated into witchcraft, aside from the fact that Suko had confessed that her kingdom was planning to kill the breadwinner of the family, a Nigerian Senator. After listening to their testimonies and spiritually screening those involved, Prophet T.B. Joshua declared the entire family free from witchcraft, stating that the only one with such a spirit was Suko, who was subsequently delivered. The prophet explained that Peter was young when he made the confession and it was due to his rough and thuggish lifestyle, not truly from his heart. As for the others who confessed, the prophet disclosed that it was due to a psychological problem, explaining how Satan can afflict one to say what they are not, just as he can afflict one with sickness or disappointment. The family were joyously reconciled, Peter Febugha shedding tears of joy after being declared innocent, as 17 years of torment and trouble was swallowed up in the joy of exoneration.
Another case was that of the Okeke family which was in a situation that threatened to tear them apart and destroy their marriage. Mr Fidelis Okeke had accused his wife, Mrs Martina Okeke as being an agent of the marine world and the one responsible for the downfall of his once thriving and prosperous transportation business. Mr Okeke explained that various revelations from pastors and prayer partners all pointed to his wife as being a queen in the marine world and being responsible for his plight, reiterated by his own experience in which a company of nearly 150 luxury buses was reduced to just 2. Mr Okeke’s daughters, Ebere and Amara corroborated their father’s assertion, Amara claiming the mother had confessed to being a crocodile, and Ebere stating she attacked her spiritually and was the cause of her marital troubles. She further added that different ministers of God had prophetically revealed her mother as the source of the family’s troubles.
Throughout the discourse, Martina looked up almost defiantly, not allowing the accusations levelled against her to darken her demeanour. When it was time for her to speak, she denied being possessed by a marine spirit, stating that any admissions she had previously made was born out of annoyance and anger, not reality. To settle the issue, Prophet T.B. Joshua first of all stated that for any minister of God to reveal someone’s problem and not deliver them, such a proclamation does not originate from the throne of God. He prophetically declared Martina innocent of the accusation, saying that satan just wanted to destroy the family because he knew their togetherness would move mountains. Convinced by God’s opinion revealed through the prophet, the family were reunited and husband and wife, who had been living separately for several years due to this, lovingly embraced each other
Then came the time of healing and deliverance at The SCOAN Prayer Line. Literally hundreds who had come from across the country, continent and beyond lined up to receive a touch from God to replace the darkness within them with His gentle and redeeming light. From oozing cancerous wounds, deadly diseases such as HIV/ AIDs and Epilepsy, people confined to wheelchairs and crutches to those with spiritual problems, attacks in the night and people looking for breakthrough – they all came and they all received. Once again, the authenticity of the anointing received by the ‘Five Wise Men’ was revealed as God used them mightily to heal the sick, deliver the oppressed and prophesy to the people.
Following the prayer line was a time of powerful deliverance and prophetic messages, starting with testimonies from last weeks service. Mr Paul Ujah stood before the congregation to joyously declare that he had been delivered from the scorn of bedwetting following a prophetic message delivered to him last week. Apart from that, he told the congregation how the man of God had asked him of his twin brother upon meeting with him the following Monday, and revealing that he also was suffering from the same shameful malady. Provided with transportation money to bring his brother to the church Paul, standing next to his twin Peter, thanked God for restoring his family and removing their indignity. He explained that the predicament had left both twins unmarried and unable to move freely with people for fear of the disgrace attached. As Paul shared his testimony, Prophet T.B. Joshua declared Peter free from bedwetting also, stating that all he needed was a Word from God to bring the deliverance about.
Many would recall a supernatural scenario that played out in the church last week where a husband and wife had a remarkable confrontation, in which a king from the sea spoke through the woman to disown her husband. Mr and Mrs Kolawole, who had been battling with a spiritual husband that had made peace, affection and joy elusive in their home, received their deliverance on Sunday 18th July 2010, and the couple returned to give their wonderful testimony. Mrs Kolawole explained that after her deliverance, she had a dream in which the spiritual husband appeared to her and was then killed by a man who told him to leave her alone. Since then, the marriage has started on a new note, with happiness and love restored. Mr Kolawole confirmed that his wife was truly delivered, and praised God for bringing a permanent end to their marital turmoil of nearly 20 years.
With the faith of the congregation lifted, Prophet T.B. Joshua moved on to a time of mass prayer by first of all telling the people to pray for God to sanctify their hearts. The auditorium literally resounded with the fervent prayers of God’s people, before it was time to separate the pretenders from the genuine. As the prophet began to pray for deliverance, people looked in surprise as those beside them who had previously been in earnest prayer began to manifest the evil within them and fall to the ground. Truly, appearance and packaging are deceptive! Hundreds from across the auditorium responded to the powerful command by the man of God, as people possessed with evil spirits or afflicted by them were mightily delivered from the chains that had kept them in bondage. Precise prophecies followed in suit as God, the Revealer of mysteries, unveiled the secrets of men’s hearts and pointed out the root cause of their problems.
Mere words are not adequate to describe God’s work at The SCOAN. All those in attendance would agree with the Scriptures in Luke 10:15, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.” Truly, those privileged to witness the work of God week-in week-out through The SCOAN and Emmanuel TV have no excuse to remain the same, for knowing God is not only to see His wonders but to learn His ways. May every Sunday Service at The SCOAN serve as an incentive for you to love God above all, trust Him alone and totally depend upon Him for everything. It is all about Jesus!
